The function of the crankshaft position sensor is to determine the position of the crankshaft, that is, the rotation angle of the crankshaft and the engine speed. It usually works in conjunction with the camshaft position sensor to determine the basic ignition time.
The crankshaft position sensor is usually installed at the front end of the crankshaft (at the pulley), the rear end of the crankshaft near the large flywheel or in the middle of the crankshaft. It is also installed in the distributor in early models and is one of the most important sensors in the control system. Its functions include: detecting the engine speed, so it is also called a speed sensor; detecting the top dead center position of the piston, so it is also called a top dead center sensor, including detecting the top dead center signal of each cylinder for controlling ignition and controlling the sequential injection.
